Does food and exercise cause you stress?!

We get stressed about work, the housework, our family, our friends, missing birthdays, poorly children, being late, not sleeping enough, drinking too much, smoking too much, eating too much, weighing too much, not working out enough…and so the list goes on. Those of us that are health conscious are constantly evaluating and judging ourselves for the choices we make and the way we live.

STRESS MAN

Worrying is just self-created STRESS. We worry about everything from the very important to the trivial- we worry about the world that surrounds us and all the things that could possibly happen (however unlikely they may be). The irrational brain, in a stressed-out and tired body, is like a child without supervision: it runs wild!!! We may no longer have to worry about basic necessities, but our lives are packed out with stress.

Stress causes high levels of adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone) in the body and puts us in to a state of “fight or flight”. In this mode, the body will not repair itself, digest or utilise any fat stores. The one thing stress is guaranteed to help is weight gain and maintenance.

Stressing out about food and exercise is a waste of time and energy. Make positive plans and stick to them where you can. Think how good you feel when you achieve what you planned to do. Don’t obsess about it. Make healthy food and exercise part of a lifestyle that you enjoy and fill your time with all the other things that you enjoy doing.

Nurture the positive relationship you have with yourself to be the best version of yourself. Physically and mentally. Physical change starts in your mind. A healthy perspective leads to a healthy body.

Whats done is done. Forget about yesterday. Focus on today.

FEELINGFREE

Let healthy food and exercise be a stress-free part of your life… a joy even!
