Your winter survival yoga course

Struggling to leave the duvet? Straining to see in the dark?! Join us for our six week winter yoga course designed to recharge your muscles and bones ready for the brighter months ahead.

We can use this time wisely – in winter, restoration is very natural! Active restoration (the type you make a conscious decision to do) is also of huge benefit to our mental health as you allow the space for your body to replenish and regenerate the areas that you feel need it most. All the seasons bring with them their own character and energy so you can create harmony by working with what is provided. You know what they say about what to do if live gives you lemons- make a bloody good gin and tonic!

Logistics!

The course will be held at the beautiful offchurch village hall on Monday evenings 7 – 8:15pm on the 4th, 11th and 18th of February. We will then have a week break and continue on the 4th, 11th and 18th of March 🙂

INVESTMENT: £60

This course is an all-levels course so is suitable for everyone no matter how much yoga you have done in the past or how fit you think you are. I will offer variations all the time so you can make the practice one that suits you and your body.
The course outline will look like this:

1) Put your slippers on: arrive and get comfy!

This class offers a gentle introduction to basic yoga postures. We will spend time looking at the tradition sun salutations and can enjoy some warrior sequences together in which I will offer you the armour you need to survive the week.

2) Your hot toddy: thaw your bones

An introduction to the yogic breathing that warms you from the inside out. Together we will make lots of heat so we will create our own internal sauna before some deep hip relaxation…great for releasing tension!

3) Slouch on the couch: the art of surrender

Looking at “active relaxation” where we can program our body to relax and how we can encourage a deeper relaxation as we increase mental and physical awareness.

4) Hot water bottle: restore to your core

The ground actually has the potential to give us energy. We explore together how we can use this both to restore and to create strong foundations for further practice.

5) A winter roast: achieving balances

The perfect roast is not easy but it comes down to understanding how much gravy you are going to need! We move through sequences that offer yin or yang, showing you how you can modify your practice in accordance with how you feel.

6) Put the kettle on: when things get serious!

Pushing the boundaries with some fun and challenging balancing postures. Wherever you are at, you will be ready to face the months ahead recharged and ready to go!!!
I aim to start the classes promptly so please arrive ten minutes before class starts to set up your station. I would recommend that you layer up your clothing so you can take away and add clothing as required. Please feel free to bring a pillow or cushion to add comfort to your practice:)

Please let me know if you have any injuries or body issues that you would like me to be aware of before the class starts. There are only 15 spaces available so please book asap to avoid disappointment! To book you can message me on facebook (Victoria Mairiaux-Jones), my mobile 07912 444 660 or drop me an email at victoriajonespt@yahoo.co.uk. Please note that your place is not confirmed until I have received payment.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
