An introduction to Tabata Training: The 4 minute workout!

Tabata Training was invented by Japanese professor Dr. Izumi Tabata in the late 1990s. He used it to train olympic speed skaters! Since then, it has been used by athletes and gym bunnies alike to make fitness gains in a short amount of time. The great thing about Tabata training (apart from the obvious appeal of how brief the workout can be) is that it is accessible to everyone! As long as you are working as hard as you can then that is all that matters 🙂

Exercises for Great Posture

Poor posture is a modern day problem! What causes the rounding of the upper back? Sitting at desks, peering over computer screens, mobile phone use, long hours driving or commuting are often the main culprits. But what is happening in the body when this ‘poor posture’ develops?

The rounding of the upper back (often referred to as kyphosis) results in long and weak upper back muscles which don’t activate when we need them too and over time this means tight chest and shoulders which can limit shoulder mobility. Posture issues can develop to different degrees but if your back starts to round then the problem will only get worse unless you devote sometime to increasing strength, body awareness and over time, better posture!

How mobile are you?!

Christmas has come and gone and, no doubt, there has been way too much food and booze intake. We’ve now reached that awkward week after the mayhem, but we’re not back into the new year’s routine just yet… still most people feel like they need to move! Country walks, gentle yoga and any games will make you feel human again! Here is one to try with the family or your friends and I warn you… it is not as easy as it looks!
