In January this year, I realised that I needed help to get “my old self back” – I’d well and truly fallen off the “wellbeing wagon” – the usual suspects – takeaways, convenience meals, snacks, way too much wine and with excessive working to top it off – I felt as though I had lost control of me!! 

Over the years, I’ve been pretty self motivated to eat well and exercise – I’ve never been into fad diets, but more so healthy living based on the 80/20 rule. But this time, I’d gained way too much weight, felt unhealthy, groggy and needed help to get back on track!  (more…)

You get up in the morning and have seven internal conversations about the best breakfast combination before you reach your kitchen. Then spend a good five minutes debating what you think you should have and what you actually want. You get hungry again at 10am and eat an apple (good choice), but are then STARVING five minutes later so you look in your bag for something else to eat…

TOP TIPS for gaining and maintaining muscle!

The majority of people that work out will, at one time or another, have said that they want to “tone up” but what does this actually mean? Toning up requires two things: gaining muscle and losing body fat.
In order to have a toned physique, you must create an environment that will support muscle building. This is not as simple as just lifting big heavy weights and drinking protein shakes with some raw eggs on the side.

30 mins Core and Arms

A quick weekend blitz for those of you wanting to work on strengthening arms and core. My legs were sore today (‘yippee!’ I hear you cry ;)) so I let them recover whilst still getting in a workout.

This workout requires nothing more than a medicine ball and a Swissball.

Does food and exercise cause you stress?!

We get stressed about work, the housework, our family, our friends, missing birthdays, poorly children, being late, not sleeping enough, drinking too much, smoking too much, eating too much, weighing too much, not working out enough…and so the list goes on. Those of us that are health conscious are constantly evaluating and judging ourselves for the choices we make and the way we live.
